How it works Ibuprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that inhibits cyclo-oxygenase (COX) enzymes, reducing prostaglandin synthesis to help decrease pain and swelling at the site of application. FAQ Can I use it with heat rubs or other topical NSAIDs? No—avoid using multiple topical NSAIDs or heat rubs on the same area to reduce irritation risk. Can I bandage the area? You may use a light, breathable support once the gel is fully dry. Avoid airtight dressings. Will it affect my stomach like tablets? Systemic exposure is much lower than with oral ibuprofen, but side effects can still occur—use the smallest amount for the shortest time.
